Vision and aims of organisation

Mission
To energize and execute training, diffusion, information and investigation activities guided toward the construction of the Culture of Peace inside the sphere of the application of human rights and the Humanitarian International Right. Strengthening the learning of principles of civic participation, disarmament, justice, social development and the management and transformation of conflicts, encouraging real dignity for people without gender distinction, race, credo, language, age or condition. Encourage the formation of leaders able to spread these ideals.

Vision
Be an institutional leader in the promotion and diffusion of the Culture of Peace and human rights through the consolidation and improvement of the processes that will be developed in a strategic way in these different areas.

Objective
The general objective of the Foundation Schools of Peace is to impel actions like organization, investigation, edition, projects, consultancies and consultant ships necessary to form the ideals of the Culture of Peace and to make Peace a duty and a right, especially within the new generations of Colombians.

Activities main focus

  1. Young Net of Schools of Peace has a main objective to offer interaction spaces where the knowledge of the Culture of the Peace is facilitated, directed and coordinated by the youth.
  2. Peace Educators Net is composed of a group of teachers and professors at all levels of education who are interested in becoming agents that live by and multiply the ideals of the Culture of Peace, human rights and the Humanitarian International Right.

Fundación Escuelas de Paz is part of the National Net of civil society organizations that work for the PEACE in Colombia. It is in permanent interaction and connection with initiatives that work in violence prevention and the construction of peace.

International Activities 2010-2011

“Learning to Read the World from Multiple Perspectives:

Peace Education toward Diversity & Inclusion”

The International Institute on Peace Education (IIPE) 2010 took place in Colombia from July 12-18, 2010.  The Institute was being co-organized by the National Peace Academy (home of the IIPE secretariat) and Fundación Escuelas de Paz in partnership with the Colombian National Ministry of Education and a consortium of organizations invested in furthering peace education in Colombia.

Local Activities for 2010-2011

1. Project Soacha, Life and Laws: Route for Soacha’s Juvenile Development since the Juvenile Development Center (Cdj) and the Friendly Services for Adolescents and Youth People. (December 2009- December 2012)

2. LIVING TOGETHER – SCHOOL PROTECTION PROGRAM. Component “Peace conflict resolution in the Schools”.

(First Step: January – September 2010). The objective of this project is to construct a network for the conviviality, human rights and participation, in 11 public schools in 3 neighbourhoods of Bogota (Ciudad Bolívar, Usaquén y Tunjuelito- both of them are considered two of the most violent neighbourhoods in the city-), 11 Schools in Bogota
