Vision and aims of organization (200 words max) Vision SOYDA strives to see a future in which Somaliland youth and children live in a favourable environment where their basic rights are respected and matters affecting their lives are well addressed. 

Mission: SOYDA is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit making organization founded in January 6, 2001 to promote the rights of youth and children and marginalized communities through awareness raising,
advocacy, peace building and human rights education.

Activities main focus (100 words) SOYDA promotes activities that are promoting human rights and a culture of peace among youth and their communities in general, enhancing the role of youth to be peace builders and diverting youth from participating conflicts in the region. SOYDA also works on child protection and development to create friendly and safe environment for children to prevent them from abuses and neglect. 

Additionally SOYDA works on employment and skill development of young people through job training and skill improvement to access market employment opportunities.

Local Activities for 2010-2011
  • The preservation of human rights and the promotion of a culture of peace building and conflict transformation in the Somaliland society.
  • Protecting an promoting child rights and documenting violations against children
  • Promote the role of young people in peace building and conflict transformation through trainings, workshops, public forums, forming peace clubs, TV shows, radio programs and peace tours.
  • Lobbying and advocating for peace context to be included in school curricula so as to promote culture of peace among school children and students.
  • Organize celebrations and symposiums for the commemoration of the international day of peace, African Child Day and Human Rights Day

International Day of Peace SOYDA will organize youth peace conference in Hargeisa-Somaliland. This conference will provide young people a platform to discuss issues that are affecting their lives with consideration of peace context.
