Activities main focus KESOFO runs own flagship program titled Sport for Social Transformation (SST), whose overall goal is to promote the use of sport as the entry point into local communities to address the underlying causes of poverty and as a vehicle to achieve lasting social change. The SST targets youth and young adult populations (including girls) through local sporting organisations. KESOFO believes that involvement in organized sports not only allows boys and girls from all backgrounds to break down social barriers and come together on the playing field, but also creates an enabling environment in which they can feel more comfortable exploring serious and sensitive issues. At the same time, sports also provide natural role models in the form of coaches and peer educators. Indeed, since inception, KESOFO has been able to bring thousands of young people in western Kenya by building and supporting community sporting
programmes where we promote the participation and enjoyment of sport by all generations. We are actively promoting opportunities for youth and women in sport and understanding of sport’s role in maintenance of the
environment.
