My name is Leena Laitinen, and as of February, I will be the new Communications Officer at UNOY Peacebuilders. I am from Finland, but I have been living in the Netherlands for more than 3 years now. I moved here right after I had finished secondary school, because I wanted to take a break from studying and to see the world a bit. I spent the first year working as an au pair, and decided to stay in The Hague afterwards to study. I am currently on my third year of studying European Studies.
During my study, I have specialized in the public sector, and studied communication and journalism on the side. I also volunteer for a local charity in The Hague, helping socially disadvantaged people. I love to travel and to meet new people from all over the world.
As for my time at UNOY, I am hoping to learn a lot about working at an international NGO. I believe it is going to be a good challenge for me, and I am for sure going to be working hard in the coming months!
