UNOY Peacebuilders attended the workshop Towards Joint European Advocacy on SCR1325 organised by the European Peace Liaison Office in Brussels. The resolution on Women, Peace and Security was adopted 10 years ago and the event was organised to bring together European organisations working on gender and peace to create an advocacy campaign and discuss plans of action leading up to the ten year anniversary.

From November 29 to December 6 UNOY Peacebuilders together with PATRIR from Romania and Peace Dialogue from Armenia organised a study session on Gender Equality in Youth Peacebuilding Projects. The session was supported by the Council of Europe’s Directorate of Youth and Sports and held at their European Youth Centre in Budapest. In addition to the five-person implementation team, 29 participants from 22 countries came together to share their experiences and learn from each other and the trainers.

The training provided an overview of gender concepts and how to include these in human rights youth work. 20 participants from all over Europe came together in the Rose Valley, Bulgaria for four days of discussions on topics such as gender based violence, women’s rights, and gender & cultural relativism. Additionally, an introduction to Human Rights Education in the council of Europe was given.
The diverse group of participants all had different experiences in the field of human rights and youth work.
