The Life Youth Foundation was founded on 14 February 1999 as a non-profit, non governmental organization.
The mission of the Life Youth Foundation is to empower the civil society by strengthening the role of all
of its actors, focusing on young people and youth workers. Taking this into consideration, Life Youth
Foundation believes that the citizens are not just target of the governmental programs but public actors
acting as an influence on the government policies.
Life Youth Foundation is structured in 3 departments: Youth mobility, Resource center for young people
and youth non-governmental organizations, NGO's and department of Training and consultancy for NGO's and
youth workers from public institutions. There are 9 active young people working in Life Youth Foundation.
Through the activities developed by Life Youth Foundation, each year we reach directly
around 250 people. 70% of these people are youth workers, community workers, starting
trainers who work with young people in their communities. By raising these people capacity in
working with young people, Life Youth Foundation contributes to the development of
hundreds of young people from different communities.
The Youth Mobility department involves young people trough:
- European Voluntary Service activities – since 2001 Life Youth Foundation works as EVS
sending, coordinating and hosting organization. Since then, we have developed
various EVS hosting projects on sending volunteers to different European Union countries
and hosting volunteers from various countries.
- Leonardo Da Vinci programs aimed at giving the possibility for young people with limited
opportunities, economical and educational background to develop their professional skills,
communication skills etc. for supporting their integration in social and working
environment.
- Youth Exchanges - 27 various youth exchanges with various countries from the European
Union. The youth exchanges have covered various themes, such as intercultural learning,
fighting against racism and prejudices, human rights, etc.
Training and consultancy for NGO's and youth workers from public institutions department
have developed:
- 5 editions of Train The Trainer program which was aimed at equiping the youth workers with
skills, knowledge and competencies for developing successful youth meetings at a local,
national and international level;
- campaign “Human Rights Education – Creating Safe Communities”. The overall goal of
the campaign was to strengthen the capacity of human rights organizations to undertake
human rights education (HRE) efforts (e.g. training, awareness campaigns, information
dissemination, and advocacy) aimed at building a global culture of human rights. The
project was composed from Training of Trainers (ToT) project during which Life Youth
Foundation trained 28 youth workers and starting trainers from various city of Romania on
becoming multipliers in their local communities about the importance of HRE. After the
ToT project the multipliers conducted 10 three day training courses on HRE in their local
communities. The project involves an evaluation seminar as well as a website. The
evaluation seminar aims to evaluate the results of the campaign, the impact on the local
community and to develop follow-up activities for the project. The website provides
various educational recourses for HRE which were developed during the campaign.
- campaign “Developing Local Youth Policy”. The campaign aimed to create a youth policy
for Oradea city. For the campaign Life Youth Foundation conducted an open call and
selected and trained 15 young people from Oradea for organizing and developing a
campaign. The team of 15 young people together with Life Youth Foundation team
developed and implemented a local campaign on youth policy for Oradea City.
Biggest succes
The Biggest success for Life Youth Foundation is the campaign on Developing local Youth
policy in 2004. This was a one year campaign fully based on public participation. The
campaign involved young people form Oradea, local ngo's and public institutions. The result
of the campaign is developed local youth policy for Oradea city.
